Each piece is meticulously handcrafted by our skilled artisans, allowing us to tailor dimensions, materials, and finishes to meet your specific requirements. This bespoke process ensures that every item is imbued with individuality and quality, offering a level of personalisation that is seldom found elsewhere.
When Did we Start The Chesterfield Showroom and Why?
Our story is rooted in the North East, where craftsmanship and hard work are part of our identity. What began as a passion for restoring second-hand and vintage Chesterfields in Sunderland soon grew into something much greater—a commitment to creating brand-new, British-made Chesterfields that honour their rich heritage while meeting the standards of today’s homes.
Years of working with well-loved furniture gave us an eye for quality and a deep respect for the skill that goes into every tuft, scroll, and stitch. We didn’t just want to sell Chesterfields—we wanted to make them the right way.
It is believed that Lord Phillip Stanhope, the 4th Earl of Chesterfield (1694–1773), commissioned the first leather Chesterfield settee– requesting a deep buttoned, quilted upholstery and low seat base. Centuries later, we continue that legacy, not just by replicating tradition but by keeping its spirit alive—crafting each sofa with the same level of artistry and pride that has defined the Chesterfield for generations.
At The Chesterfield Showroom, we don’t believe in mass production or cutting corners. We believe in making furniture that lasts, built with honesty, heritage, and a true connection to the past. From our workshop to your home, every Chesterfield we create is a reflection of where we come from—and a piece of history you can make your own.
